Jeju Air, ‘dizzy landing’ in violation of internal regulations… “Penalty, etc.”

Jeju Air pilots were forced to land in a situation where they had to cancel the landing and were subject to internal discipline.

Jeju Air Flight 7C133 was confirmed to have extended its auxiliary wings and lowered the landing wheels later than the standard while attempting to land on the runway at Jeju International Airport around 8:30 pm on the 14th of last month.

Internal regulations require the aircraft to operate its wings and wheels before it descends below 1,000 feet, and this was not done until between 500 and 1,000 feet.

In this case, the landing must be canceled and the altitude must be increased again, but the captain and others at the time decided to land as it is.

Jeju Air said, “Since the internal standards for customer safety were not observed, the flight of the captain and co-pilot was excluded immediately after the incident, and the personnel committee issued a disciplinary action against the pilot, including a one-month ban on flying.”

However, he explained that it did not fall under the category of accidents or safety disturbances that must be reported to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

An official from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said, “We were not informed of the matter in advance.”
