The Jeollabuk-do Education Office is organizing a training program in the United States that will see 20 first-year middle school students from the province partake in the prestigious ‘NASA Global Camp’.

The camp, scheduled to take place from November 1 to 12, aims to enhance the students’ problem-solving skills, foster creativity, and promote teamwork.

During the first four days of the camp, students will engage in scientific exploration activities at renowned American universities, attend special lectures at NASA’s Goddard Space Center, and immerse themselves in cultural experiences by visiting museums in New York and Washington. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to choose and design a career in science and engineering.

From November 5 onwards, the participants will join the NASA Space Center camp in Huntsville, renowned for its aerospace industry. Here, they will partake in an array of exciting activities, including rocketry and propulsion principles, astronaut simulation, spacesuit experiences, and mission training. The camp will also provide a platform for the students to deepen their understanding of spacecraft launch preparation, gravity, zero gravity experiences, and Mars exploration. Participants will even have the chance to make their own rocket models.

Superintendent Seo Geo-seok expressed his optimism about the training program, stating, “It is my hope that this experience will play a crucial role in nurturing global talents who can adapt to the challenges of an increasingly globalized world, by exposing them to advanced science, technology, and culture.”
