(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Hong-seok Ahn = The Korean women’s soccer team lost to Japan in the opening match of the 2022 East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) E-1 Championship (East Asian Cup).

The national team, led by coach Colin Bell, lost 1-2 to Japan in the opening match of the East Asian Cup held at Kashima Stadium in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan on the afternoon of the 19th.

After losing to Japan, which is considered the strongest team among participating countries in the first round, it became difficult for Korea to win the East Asian Cup for the first time in 17 years.

After the East Asian Cup match (2-1) held in Wuhan, China in 2015, Korea has never won a match between Korea and Japan.

South Korea have 4 wins, 11 draws and 18 losses in their previous record against Japan.

In the East Asian Cup, four teams play the full league to determine the rankings, and Korea will face China at 7 pm on the 23rd and Taiwan at 4 pm on the 26th in turn.

Korea, who conceded a goal to Hinata Miyazawa in the 33rd minute of the first half, equalized with a turning shot from Ji So-yeon (Suwon FC) in the 14th minute of the second half, but conceded the winning goal to Nagano Fuka in the 20th minute of the second half.
