Park Ji-hyo Departs JYP Entertainment After 21 Years
After 21 years, my journey with JYP Entertainment that started when I was a child has come to an end,
Jihyo wrote in a statement published on Instagram, announcing her departure from the agency after more than two decades.
Jihyo, the leader of the K-pop girl group TWICE, has officially left JYP Entertainment after choosing not to renew her contract, cnnindonesia.com reported. The singer, whose full name is Park Ji-hyo, spent 21 years with the agency as a trainee and artist before deciding to part ways.
Establishing Independent Venture Emithaus
Following months of speculation that began after contract renewal discussions opened, Jihyo announced on Oct. 21, 2026, that she is establishing her own independent company called Emithaus to manage her future activities.
The singer drew inspiration for the company name from the word emit, which means to radiate or release, stating she aims to face new challenges and demonstrate her unlimited potential as an artist through the venture. Jihyo noted that the new company will serve as a space for her to freely explore and realize artistic possibilities she has not yet discovered.
Trainee Roots and Historic Milestones
Jihyo joined JYP Entertainment as a child trainee before debuting as a member of TWICE in 2015. Alongside bandmates Nayeon, Momo, and Tzuyu, she helped the group make history in October 2025 by performing as the first girl group at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York.
She also launched her solo music career in 2023 with the release of her debut EP, Zone.
Continued Commitment to TWICE
Despite leaving her long-time agency for solo management, Jihyo will continue her group activities as a member of TWICE. Representatives for the artist confirmed that she maintains her commitment to the nine-member group while building her independent career under Emithaus.
The group remains widely recognized for a string of hit singles, including Cheer Up and TT in 2016, alongside What Is Love? in 2018.
Reflecting on Decades of Growth
Jihyo mentioned that most of her time was spent with JYP from childhood through adulthood, noting there were both good and challenging days, and that every moment had shaped her into who she is today.
