Jilin Province Launches Comprehensive Autumn Animal Disease Prevention and Control Work
The Jilin Provincial Animal Husbandry Administration is currently undertaking major animal epidemic prevention and control work in autumn, striving to ensure the stability of the animal epidemic prevention situation and prevent major regional animal epidemics. This effort aims to establish a solid safety line for the breakthrough task of increasing the number of beef cattle raised by one million and doubling the number of slaughtered cattle.
This year, the Jilin Provincial Animal Husbandry Administration organized an annual action to improve the quality of animal immunization. In accordance with the work goal of “making progress in spring prevention and achieving results in autumn prevention,” various tasks were implemented in a step-by-step manner. During the spring prevention period, the population immunization density was maintained at more than 90%, the immunization density of livestock and poultry to be vaccinated reached 100%, and the qualified rate of foot-and-mouth disease, highly pathogenic avian influenza, peste des petits ruminants, and swine fever immunization antibodies reached more than 85%. In the national spring prevention inspection, Jilin Province was commended by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
To effectively connect the flood season with the animal epidemic prevention work in autumn and winter, the Jilin Provincial Animal Husbandry Administration Bureau scientifically analyzed and assessed the prevention and control of major animal diseases such as foot-and-mouth disease and zoonotic diseases such as anthrax. The start time of this year’s autumn prevention was moved one week earlier, from August 8 to September 30. Before the start of autumn prevention, technical preparations and material guarantees were made, and autumn prevention training week activities were carried out around the prevention and control of major animal diseases and zoonotic diseases, the improvement of emergency response capabilities, and paperless certification.
Autumn prevention has entered the stage of comprehensive attack. While doing a good job in compulsory immunization, the Jilin Provincial Animal Husbandry Administration has taken many measures to grasp the key tasks of animal epidemic prevention. These measures include carrying out the action of improving the standardized management of vaccines, guiding local areas to strengthen vaccine management, and standardizing the recovery and destruction of empty vaccine bottles. The “cadres + experts” model is being adopted to continue roving guidance services in various places, standardize prevention and control measures, and timely discover risks and blind spots in work.
The Jilin Provincial Animal Husbandry Administration is also promoting the special action of “strengthening the foundation, improving quality and increasing efficiency” for animal quarantine supervision, continuously strengthening the construction of official veterinary teams, improving the ability to perform duties and professional ethics, and improving the efficiency of quarantine work. The role of service and guarantee is being highlighted, with a focus on the development of the beef cattle industry, and the “beef cattle epidemic prevention public notice card” is being used to innovate and establish a provincial cattle disease monitoring and early warning network.
Monitoring services are being carried out for hundreds of beef cattle enterprises, and high-quality enterprises in the province are being encouraged and guided to build disease-free communities and purification sites. This comprehensive approach aims to ensure the stability of the animal epidemic prevention situation and prevent major regional animal epidemics.
