JJ Spaun secured his first major championship at the U.S. Open, triumphing over Robert MacIntyre by two strokes. The climactic moment arrived when Spaun sank a remarkable 64-foot birdie putt on the 18th green at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania. The final round, marked by a weather delay, saw Spaun navigate the course with precision, ultimately seizing the US Open golf championship.
Spaun’s victory came after a 96-minute weather delay due to heavy rains that temporarily halted play. Grounds crews worked to clear the course, setting the stage for a dramatic finish. The American golfer, however, remained focused, delivering key shots down the stretch.

The 34-year-old Spaun reached the 17th hole tied with MacIntyre, who had already completed a two-under 68. Spaun then hit a 309-yard drive, placing the ball within 17 feet of the hole, setting up a crucial eagle putt. He made the comebacker before sealing the US Open role with his long birdie putt on the final hole.
Spaun reflected on the significance of the win, especially with his family present. “It was so cool to just have my whole family there on Father’s Day,” Spaun said. “It’s just unbelievable. I have no words to describe the moment and them being able to see me as the winner.”
Despite the pressure,Spaun avoided looking at the scoreboard on the 18th to maintain his focus. ”I knew based off of, like, what the crowd was saying that I felt like if I two-putted I would problably win, but I didn’t want to look,” Spaun said. “I didn’t want to do anything dumb trying to protect a three-putt or something.”
Viktor hovland finished third, three shots behind Spaun.Cameron Young, along with LIV Golf players Tyrrell Hatton and Carlos Ortiz, tied for fourth. Sam Burns, who led entering the final round, struggled and finished five shots back.
Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler finished in a tie for seventh. Rory McIlroy, who has been working to regain his form, carded a final-round 67 to finish seven over par.
