Kavouklis to Announce College choice July 3; Arkansas, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech in Final Mix
Joaquin Kavouklis, a highly-regarded quarterback from Lakekand High School in Florida, is nearing a decision. The class of 2027 prospect plans to announce his commitment on July 3, capping off an offseason filled with visits and evaluations. Kavouklis currently holds more than a dozen scholarship offers.
Kavouklis, who previously set records at Tarpon Springs High School, is eager to finalize his college destination. He said his focus will then shift to preparing for the upcoming high school season.
The three finalists for Kavouklis’s commitment are Arkansas, Virginia Tech, and Georgia Tech. He emphasized the similarities among the programs.
“it’s now at three options,” Kavouklis said. ”Arkansas, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech.All of my top three options have very similar characteristics like amazing coaching staffs, great program surroundings, great developmental system, and lastly they all have strong athletic traditions.”
He added, “I have visited all three programs more than once and they all stayed consistent on every visit.”
Kavouklis highlighted specific aspects of each program that stood out to him. Each school offers a unique chance to develop his role as a quarterback.
Regarding Arkansas, Kavouklis said, “Coach (Bobby) Petrino and coach (Miles) Fishback offer great long term development knowing who Coach Petrino has produced! Playing in the SEC against the nation’s best has always been a dream of mine.”
About Georgia Tech, he noted, “Georgia Tech and Coach (Chris) Weinke have an amazing background and great team environment. There are heading in a realy good direction!”
And on Virginia Tech: “Coach (Brian) Crist and Virginia Tech have been very transparent with me throughout this whole process. I think they have a lot to offer.”
Kavouklis recently visited each of the schools, with Virginia Tech being his most recent stop.
