RTÜK, Television Broadcasters Association, Radio and Television Broadcasters Central Union, Anatolian Broadcasters Association and National Radio Broadcasters Association made a joint statement regarding the way the humanitarian situation in Gaza is handled by international media organizations.
In the statement shared by RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin on his social media account, “Those who remain silent while humanity is dying in Palestine and Gaza, international media organs that say they have universal principles at every opportunity but today do not remember any of these principles, where are you? They are subjected to all kinds of pressure and coercion.” Where are you, glorious international media organizations, while a few honest media organizations, who struggle at the cost of their lives to do their job in the best way, are telling the truth, genocide and war crimes to the whole world in the name of humanity and journalistic ethics? In the name of human dignity, we appeal to the consciences; children, women, the elderly, Patients and innocent people are being subjected to genocide in front of the eyes of the whole world. The Western media, which follows the morale visits to Israel step by step, ignores this genocide while one of the greatest genocides in human history is taking place. “He is making a special effort not to show the babies to the world,” it said.
‘EVEN THE KILLED JOURNALISTS ARE NOT INFORMED’
In the statement, it was stated that some foreign media organizations only cover the news coming from Israel and turn a deaf ear to the facts happening in Gaza, and said, “Even the journalists killed by Israel are not covered by these media organizations. A few honorable journalists, whose names will always be remembered with respect in the history of media, report on what happened in Gaza.” They are trying to explain it to the world public in the most accurate way at the expense of their lives. We are calling out to the whole world from Turkey, which is the home of tolerance and brotherhood, where all religions have lived together throughout history, which hosts people from different ethnic backgrounds, about the genocide in Palestine and Gaza, the killing of babies, Even if the world remains silent about bombs being dropped on hospitals, we will never remain silent. We will continue to shout out the rights and truth at all costs, like the President of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who taught humanity to the whole world by saying ‘The world is bigger than 5’. Media organizations that respect human dignity As we, we will not remain silent against the genocide committed in Gaza. We will continue to persistently defend the fundamental values of humanity. As RTÜK and media institutions and organizations in Turkey, we strongly condemn the genocide committed by Israel and those who turn a blind eye to it. We would like to thank the press workers who always strive to publish at the expense of their lives in pursuit of accurate and honest journalism, and we will support them until the end. While they carry out this lofty duty, we will continue to mobilize all the resources at our disposal, as we have done so far. Any word or comment made in the international media without taking the genocide in Gaza into consideration will no longer be credible. “We consider it our duty to shout out in the name of human dignity, in the name of right and justice wherever it is.”
