Jokić is the best basketball player in the world for the third time

Serbian basketball player and Denver center Nikola Jokić was named the Most Valuable Player of the Season (MVP) in the NBA for the 2023/24 season for the third time.

As expected, the wonderful Somborac celebrated in front of Luka Dončić from Dallas and the Canadian Shay Giljus Aleksander from Oklahoma. This is the third title for Jokić in the last four years, and the last one was practically “stolen” from him and awarded to Joel Embiid. Last season, he was named the best player of the final series in which he brought Denver the title. The Serbian ace received as many as 79 votes for first place, 15 for Gildžus-Aleksander, and four for Luka Dončić. He got 926 points against the 640 of Oklahoma’s first star and 566 for the Slovenian.

The incredible Nikola thus became only the ninth player in history with three or more awards for the most valuable basketball player in the best league in the world. Kareem Abdul Jabbar has the most (six), and in the selected company there are also Michael Jordan (5), Bill Russell (5), Wilt Chamberlain, LeBron James (4), Moses Malone, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, who each have three trophies.

This season, in the regular part, he averaged 26.4 points with 12.4 rebounds and 9 assists per game with 58.3% shooting from the field and 35.9% for three-pointers. This is his eighth season in the NBA.
