# Jonas Brothers: Joe Jonas Opens Up About the Band’s Initial Breakup and Renewed Family Bonds
The Jonas Brothers are back and better than ever, but the road to their current success wasn’t always smooth. Joe Jonas recently sat down to discuss the difficult decision to put the band on hiatus in 2013, revealing that the split “needed to happen” due to interaction breakdowns within the group.
## The Hard Truth Behind the Hiatus
“We were having such a difficult time just being real with each other back then,” Joe shared in a recent interview on the podcast *Last Meals*.He elaborated, “now it’s like we can communicate way better, because we don’t need to be scared to have tough conversations.”
the DNCE frontman’s candid remarks echo sentiments he expressed to *Billboard* in 2019, shortly after the brothers reunited. At the time, he explained the internal disagreements over the band’s musical direction that led to the 2013 hiatus. “we all wanted to create something on our own and were just trying to force it into what was going on,” Joe recalled. “We were going thru the motions, without the heart of it… The way we communicated to each other wasn’t healthy anymore.”
### From Disney Dreams to solo Pursuits
Following the Disney Channel-backed success of their first four albums, the jonas Brothers, affectionately known as the JoBros, decided to pull the plug on group activities. This decision stemmed from an inability to resolve internal disagreements about the band’s future direction. The hiatus allowed each brother to explore individual creative paths, a period that ultimately proved valuable for their personal and professional growth.
## A Harmonious Reunion and a stronger future
Fast-forward to today, and the brothers are not only back together but are also stronger than ever. After their triumphant reunion in 2019 with the album *Happiness Begins*, which featured their first-ever No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Sucker,” the Jonas Brothers are gearing up to release their third album since the reunion. Their latest offering, *greetings From Your Hometown*, is set to drop on august 8th, following up their 2023 release, *The Album*.
### Family first, Band Always
the renewed harmony within the Jonas Brothers extends beyond their music. kevin Jonas shared on the podcast that their family bonds have also been strengthened through the process of repairing their relationship as a band. “When there’s a true need, we always band together,” Kevin said. “We’re brothers first.” This sentiment underscores the deep connection that has always been at the heart of their enduring success.
