Powell Jobs expressed her enthusiasm for Ive’s latest endeavor, stating she was “just watching something brand new be manifested, it’s a wondrous thing to behold.” she has maintained close ties with Ive since his tenure at Apple and has invested in his design firm, LoveFrom. LoveFrom’s spinout, io, was acquired by OpenAI in a $6.4 billion deal, merging their expertise to create innovative AI technology consumer products.
According to reports, OpenAI plans to launch this groundbreaking AI device next year. Ive, while remaining independent, will lead the creative and design direction. Discussions between Ive and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman regarding AI hardware began in 2023, leading to the formation of io later that year.
