Portugal national team head coach Jorge Jesus has opened the door to Cristiano Ronaldo returning to the squad, stating that the captain holds the final decision on his international future after walking out of the team camp in Copenhagen. The development follows a 2-1 victory over Norway that secured Portugal’s qualification for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Nations League.
Jorge Jesus Addresses Ronaldo Camp Exit After Norway Win
Speaking to RTP following the win against Norway, Jesus downplayed Ronaldo’s departure during the international break, describing it as a misunderstanding that can be resolved easily. The head coach insisted that all possibilities remain open regarding the return of the Portugal captain to the national team setup.
I don’t know what will happen. For me, everything is possible. It’s up to Cris to decide his fate. If he is playing and wants to join the national team in the next call-up, why not? There is no resentment, it was just a misunderstanding, and in my opinion it is easy to resolve.

Undefeated Start in UEFA Nations League Play
Jesus has enjoyed an ideal start since taking charge of Portugal, securing four wins from his first four matches. While the priority against Norway was simply to secure the victory and guarantee qualification, Jesus admitted the encounter was less demanding than the previous match against Denmark.
“Four matches, four wins,” the Portuguese coach said. “It’s a run that I perhaps did not expect when I started, regardless of how much I believe in this team.”
