Los Thuthanaka to Release New Album, Anata, Febuary 6
Joshua Chuquimia Crampton of Los Thuthanaka will release a new album, Anata, on February 6 via Puro Fantasía. The lead single,”Ch’uwanchaña ~El Golpe Final~,” is available now.
According to a statement from Chuquimia Crampton, the album is dedicated to Anata, an Andean ceremony honoring Pachamama (Mother Earth) before the rainy season. The ceremony involves giving thanks for the harvest and practicing the principle of reciprocity (Ayni) between humans and nature. Chuquimia Crampton described the album’s production style as an attempt to capture a ceremony or natural phenomenon with a phone camera.
Los Thuthanaka will celebrate the release of Anata with a show on February 6 in San francisco, in collaboration with BAAITS (Bay Area American Indian Two-Spirit).
