Journey through Medical School: A Review of Phramongkutklao College of Medicine

Hello everyone again, I am DEK63 who joined Phramongkut Medical Center. When I was a first year (at MM they are called pre-medical students), I had the opportunity to start a topic. (You can read it here)

This will be a review of various stories of Phramongkutklao College of Medicine. When I was in my first year of studies, I thought that my kids would now be studying a completely new curriculum. This is very different from my generation, including the subjects studied in year 1 and the preclinical classes (years 2-3).
But today, I feel like I am answering my question again when I was in first year, almost 4 years have passed (now I am studying in clinical school) on the experiences I received in years 2-4 Is it as we thought? Are you tired while exercising? What is it like to study medicine? What is it like when you go from preclinical to clinical level? (This is the time when students are about to choose majors and I’m near the end of the semester and just finished taking exams. So I’m here to review the sequel.)

In year 2, as many people have already discovered, is a year where training is quite intense. (For people who aren’t as strong as me, it will feel heavy.) After the workout, I still feel like I got through it. During training, if we were to speak honestly, there are many things we would prove to ourselves, why are we doing this? Is there any reason to do this? But after the training at that time, I still didn’t really understand this point until the 3rd year students would get the status in WPM. The so-called “black hats” who will have the task of following the kids in training are starting to understand in the context of training what its purpose is. What is the reason you train so hard (but let’s be honest, a lot of it probably doesn’t make sense to me). In our real life, many things may not make any sense or be irritated by various issues that may not be of great importance. But we also have to adapt to it.

As for studying in the second year (fortunately, my class studied online in the first semester), so I managed to retain a lot of knowledge in the second semester of on-campus study (and there was a period when I studied and practiced at the same time. )

Therefore, I am of the opinion that If you don’t like training or being a soldier, I myself would not recommend choosing to study here because there may be many rules that you may not like. (Some things I don’t like) Unless we have a high base score and want to study in Bangkok or think about becoming a soldier in the future, I would rather recommend this place. As for the body, I think it can be developed and built.

In the 3rd year, this is the year when everyone studying medicine knows that there will be an NL1 (professional licensing step 1) exam, which requires preparation by reading or paying attention in class regularly. I think it’s a year where I have a lot more personal time, but it also comes with more responsibility. Why does he have to go and supervise the 2nd year students in training (there will be the 5th year seniors and the military officers in charge) (I am supervising another step.) Including being a senior person who has tasks coming up all the time and at the end of the year there is a professional licensing exam. I myself had no outstanding studies and had to try to be very tired before I could pass the exam.
I think life in third year is very colorful and diverse. (Because I myself also carry out activities with external organizations such as the Office of the Commission for Basic Education) It has been a year with more freedom.

In the 4th year I must first say that I am studying with the old curriculum of the final year, which will not be the same as the DEK67 juniors who will enter. I would like to ask permission to review what it is like to study in a hospital. In the 4th year there will be 5 main departments: internal medicine, surgery and paediatrics. Obstetrics and psychiatry, it was a year that I would say was quite tough because we had to get up early to take care of the patients we received cases and learn together with them, which we have to use our brain and exert energy on it every day, which can tire us . (Some departments returned quite late and the hospital was dark.) Even during the week when we had to write (handwritten) reports where even the hands could be numb and tired. But studying at the clinic, there is a great variety of learning, and I see it as a year in which I gained knowledge from teachers, including fellow Fellows and Residents who we attended together, where we had the opportunity to exchange and discuss opinions . (or sometimes in medical circles, and sometimes it’s called “being hit” = being asked endlessly until we hit a dead end This is what forces us to continuously stimulate our thinking) Personally, I like studying in the clinic. Because we had the opportunity to talk to patients. Ask about daily symptoms, give advice to patients or even talk about miscellaneous issues. with the patient Additionally, in this class there is a duty shift. (Which makes us more tired than before haha)

But in my institute, apart from round wards or study, AND there is also training for PTTA in January-February period, which is similar to being a military doctor/nurse sergeant – transporting patients or any kind of work (which some people may not like. yes Why is it hot during training: in addition to studying, do you also have to come to train?)

This is my review of the sequel after getting to the next level. We saw more perspectives on life while studying medicine. As for what the future will look like, we’ll have to wait and see.

If there are kids or seniors who see this topic, they can come in and express their opinions about what they see. Because I think every person definitely has different ideas.B

I am rooting for all DEK67 students to achieve their dreams in their chosen group. (I myself have a younger brother who is also DEK67.) I myself have seen the exams taken and solved. I saw it and was disappointed. (Why did the exam give the wrong answer? You can’t give constant values, etc. this way)

If I have any questions about how to enter here, I can WRITE secretly and ask for more information 🙂
