Just like vivid white hair… Remains of 2000-year-old ‘Temple of Venus’ custodian found

A 2000-year-old tomb and human remains have been found in Pompeii, Italy.

The daily La Repubblica reported on the 17th (local time) that tombs and remains were found near the Porta Sarno Cemetery, 1 km east of the ancient city center of Pompeii.

According to La Repubblica, in the space inside the tomb measuring 1.6 m in width and 2.4 m in height, there were ashes in the shape of a human being.

It is believed that the ashes died before Pompeii was burned to ashes in the eruption of Vesuvius in AD 79.

The skull of the corpse was covered with white hair, and the left ear also retains some shape, La Repubblica said.

Pieces of fabric from the clothes wrapped around the body were also found.

Pompeii Archaeological Park said it was “the best-preserved remains of the remains unearthed in Pompeii.”

He also evaluated that the funeral culture at the time was to cremate the body, and this burial method was very unusual.

The excavation team explained, ” Judging from the contents of the inscription on the tomb, the person found as a remains is probably a liberated freeman named ‘Marcus Benerius Secundio’, who was in charge of the ‘Venus’ temple during his lifetime.”

Pompeii is an ancient city that was buried under the ground for 1500 years after the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius. The present has reached a level where one can vaguely guess the form of the past.
