Kamala Harris’ Unlikely Ally: The Surprise Support That’s Turning Heads
US Presidential Election Updates
Kamala Harris Receives Support from Nikki Haley’s Campaign Manager
Dawn Roberts, former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s campaign manager, has expressed her support for Vice President Kamala Harris. In an opinion column published in the Des Moines Register, Roberts praised Harris for her performance at the Democratic National Convention last month.
Roberts, a die-hard Republican, said she was “in a quandary” when both presidential candidates were in their 80s or close to them. But when Biden quit, “she heard Harris say that she has always brought groups together with individuals and diverse perspectives to solve problems. This is a healthier and wiser way to lead,” she writes.
Kamala Harris Agrees to Debate, Donald Trump Refuses
Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has officially agreed to another televised showdown against her Republican opponent Donald Trump. “Vice President Harris is ready for another opportunity to share the stage with Donald Trump and has accepted CNN’s invitation to a debate on October 23,” her campaign said in a statement.
Kamala Harris’ Campaign Spending Outpaces Donald Trump’s
Kamala Harris’ campaign spent almost three times as much in August as her opponent Donald Trump. The current US Vice President spent $174 million on the election campaign, while former US President Trump spent $61 million on the campaign.
Both the Democratic and Republican candidates spent most of their money on advertising, with smaller amounts going to rallies, travel, and campaign staff salaries. The election campaign is now in full swing, with elections taking place on November 5th. The two candidates are neck and neck in the polls.
Muslim American 2024 Election Task Force Withholds Support for Kamala Harris
The Muslim American 2024 Election Task Force has said it cannot “in good conscience” support Kamala Harris. Instead, she advises members to vote for third-party candidates. The task force, which includes a coalition of national political advocacy organizations, said voters should support candidates on the ballot who support a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and an arms embargo against the Israeli government.
”American Muslims have the potential to significantly influence local and national elections through strategic voting,” the task force said in a statement. “It is important to remember which candidates supported or opposed local ceasefire resolutions and campus protests when deciding to vote.”
