Kannur Warriors Leap to Top Spot in Kerala Football Super League
Kannur Warriors have taken the top spot in the Kerala Football Super League after defeating Malappuram FC 2-1. This victory marks their second win and a draw, earning them eight points.
The match, held at Malappuram Mancheri Payyanad Stadium, saw Kannur dominate the game. Adrian Sardinero and Isier Gomez Alvarez scored for Kannur, while Fazalurahman scored for Malappuram.
Malappuram, seeking their first home win, struggled to contain Kannur’s Spanish players. Pedro Manzi and Anas Edathotika were replaced by Alex Sanchez and Sergio Barbosa, with Anas injured during training before the game.
The game began with Malappuram on the rise, but Kannur soon took the lead. A pass from Timotheus to Sardinero on the left led to the first goal. Sardinero beat forward Tenzing Samdup and scored. Isier Gomes then took the lead, scoring within 30 minutes of the game.
Malappuram hit back just before the break, with Fazalurahman catching Mith Athekar’s extended pass outside the box and scoring with a stunning strike. Despite several attempts, Malappuram was unable to equalize.
