Kansas City Royals vs Baltimore Orioles: Seven Homeruns Record
Royals erupt for Franchise-Record Seven Home Runs in Victory Over Orioles
BALTIMORE (AP) — The Kansas City Royals established a new franchise benchmark Sunday, blasting seven home runs in an 11-6 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. The feat marks the first time in team history the Royals have hit seven homers in a single game.
Maikel Garcia led the charge with two home runs at Camden Yards in Baltimore. Jonathan India, luka Maile, Bobby Witt Jr., Vinnie Pasquantino, and Michael Massey each contributed one home run to the Royals’ record-setting performance.
The outburst was notably notable considering the Royals (19-16) had only tallied 18 home runs in their previous games this season, ranking them among the lowest in the league. ”Pretty remarkable,” Royals manager Matt Quatraro said. “Our offensive struggles have been a major point of discussion. To have a day like this is very satisfying.”
The Orioles (13-20) added four home runs of their own, bringing the game’s total to eleven. This marks the first MLB game with eleven home runs as April 2023. The MLB record for solo home runs in a game is ten.
“this is a hitter’s park. We know that,” Quatraro noted, acknowledging Camden Yards’ reputation for favoring offensive power.
The Royals last hit six home runs in a single game during the 2020 season.
