Kasargod: A mother and father have been arrested for raping a 13-year-old girl in Uliyattadukka. He was arrested for concealing information about torture and aiding and abetting torture. Police had earlier arrested nine of the boy’s neighbors and locals in connection with the case.
The girl was first booked on June 26 for sexually assaulting her at an empty house in Rahmat Nagar. Subsequently, on July 5, police arrested four accused in the case. Five more were later arrested on the basis of the child’s statement.
The police got the information about the role of the parents after the girl confessed and questioned the accused in detail. Police have found that the parents hid the child abuse and aided and abetted the abuse. The two arrested were produced in court and remanded.
The girl is now in the care of the Child Welfare Committee. 9 cases have been registered at Kasargod women’s station and investigation is in progress. Police say more people are likely to be charged in the case.
