Kathryn M. Pawlak, DDS, FICD, has been recognized as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member by The Inner Circle for her outstanding work in pediatric dentistry. She has made significant contributions through education and compassionate care in various locations, including Buffalo, New York; Baltimore, Maryland; and the Greater New York area.
Dr. Pawlak holds a BS in Spanish and a minor in health professions from Hobart and William Smith College. She earned her DDS from the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry, and completed a residency in pediatric dentistry at the University of Buffalo. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. During her residency, she developed a strong commitment to compassionate care, working closely with hematology and oncology teams to support patients.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Pawlak is involved with several professional organizations, including the International College of Dentists and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists. She founded Planet Smilez, a non-profit aimed at creating educational opportunities for students pursuing dentistry careers. Her efforts have earned her various awards, including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Resident Recognition Award.
Dr. Pawlak also teaches as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at NYU College of Dentistry and serves as the President of Planet Smilez. Her dual focus on patient care and education is evident through her programs for youth from underserved areas, such as the Discovering Dentistry Camp and Symposium. As a member of the Dean’s Faculty at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, she promotes oral health education in the community and mentors students.
Looking ahead, Dr. Pawlak aims to expand Planet Smilez and enhance educational outreach. Her vision centers on building community connections and advancing pediatric dentistry through education and mentorship.
