Kaunas Crash: Police Car Collides at Taikos & Studentų Intersection

Police Vehicle Involved in Collision in Kaunas

A police vehicle was involved in a traffic accident in Kaunas, Lithuania, at approximately 9:25 AM local time on Friday, February 6, 2026. The collision occurred at the intersection of Taikos Avenue and Studentų Street.

According to a post shared in the “Kas vyksta Kaune” (What’s happening in Kaunas) Facebook group, a local resident shared a photograph depicting a police car with significant front-end damage and debris scattered across the roadway.

Odeta Vaitkevičienė, Head of the Communications Department of the Kaunas County Chief Police Commissariat, confirmed the incident. She stated that the collision involved a police “VW Transporter” driven by an officer born in 2003, and a “Nissan Juke” driven by a woman born in 1945.

“The officer was taken to a medical facility due to injuries sustained in the accident,” Vaitkevičienė commented.

Vaitkevičienė further stated that the police vehicle was responding to a Category A incident – indicating a high-priority call – with its lights and siren activated at the time of the collision.

Footage of the collision was captured by a security camera belonging to a business located near the intersection. Ričardas Pūkas, the owner of “GPS Meistras,” shared the video with the “Kas vyksta Kaune” news portal.

This incident marks the second traffic accident reported in Kaunas on Friday. Earlier in the day, another incident was reported on Pramonės Avenue involving a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
