KDDI Corporation and Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on September 11, 2025, to establish a strategic partnership aimed at providing digital services in Vietnam.
The agreement focuses on exploring collaborations within the mobile telecommunications sector and related business areas. The partnership intends to develop a mutually beneficial relationship to introduce new products and services to the Vietnamese market while enhancing the overall customer experience.
Strategic Objectives and Service Delivery
Under the terms of the MoU, VNPT and KDDI seek to integrate traditional telecommunications services with new digital service ecosystems. The companies aim to deliver digital experiences for VNPT customers characterized by speed, convenience, high transparency, and personalization.
The collaboration is designed to leverage the specific strengths of both organizations. VNPT intends to expand its domestic business by utilizing its existing market position in Vietnam. Meanwhile, KDDI will provide technical support and share strategic direction based on its operational capabilities and experience deploying digital services in Japan.
Vietnam’s Digital Economy Landscape
The partnership arrives as Vietnam experiences a surge in mobile network and internet penetration across its population of over 100 million people. This growth is supported by national strategic goals to modernize the economy through technology.

The Vietnamese government has set a target for the digital economy to contribute 30% of the country’s GDP by 2030. To achieve this, the government is actively promoting the adoption of online services, including those used for public administration.
Corporate leaders from both firms highlighted the significance of the agreement. The partnership was formalized by KDDI President and CEO Hiromichi Matsuda and VNPT President and CEO Huỳnh Quang Liêm.
The signing of this MoU also marks a significant milestone in the partnership between VNPT and KDDI, reaffirming the strong ties between two of the leading telecommunications enterprises in Vietnam and Japan.
KDDI Corporation
The companies noted that consumer lifestyles and usage patterns in Vietnam are becoming increasingly diverse, which has created a broad spectrum of demand for various digital services.
