Kejriwal Steps Down: Delhi CM Puts Faith in Voters as He Resigns Amidst Uncertainty
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Announces Resignation
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Sunday that he will resign within the next 48 hours, days after being released from Tihar Jail in the liquor case. Kejriwal emphasized that the future of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is now in the hands of the public.
Kejriwal stated, “In two days I will resign from the office of the Chief Minister and I will not sit in the Chief Minister’s chair until the people have given their verdict. I will go to every house and every street. Until then the Chief Minister will not sit in the chair. I want the people to judge.”
A new Chief Minister will be appointed, and a decision will be taken at the Cabinet meeting to be held in two days.
Kejriwal’s Resolve Remains Unbroken
Kejriwal said that the central government’s conspiracies could not break his “strong resolve” and vowed to continue fighting for the country.
He criticized the Centre, arguing that it was more authoritarian than British colonial rule.
Kejriwal’s Time in Jail
Kejriwal spoke about his time in jail, revealing that he had written only one letter from jail, on Independence Day, requesting the lieutenant governor to allow him to hoist the flag in his absence. The letter was returned, and he was warned that if he wrote another letter, he would not be allowed to see his family.
During his time in prison, Kejriwal read books like the Ramayana, the Gita, and Bhagat Singh’s Jail Diary.
A Message of Gratitude
Arvind Kejriwal thanked the people of Delhi for their support, stressing that jailed AAP leaders Satyender Jain and Amanatullah Khan would soon be released.
