Baton Rouge rapper Kevin Gates was ordered by a judge to divest $1 million from his music catalog proceeds and hand the funds over to his estranged wife, Dreka Gates, during an ongoing divorce battle, according to a TMZ report published on Wednesday (Oct. 21).
Music Catalog Proceeds Deposited Into Morgan Stanley Account
From those funds, $929,341.50 is designated for Dreka to cover child and spousal support, alongside an immediate payout of $150,000 sent straight to her. Additionally, the financial breakdown allocates $125,000 for her legal team, $100,000 for her accountant, and $103,000 for a third-party mediator.
Kevin is slated to receive $538,798 upfront from the catalog proceeds, followed by monthly payments of $225,000 starting in October.
Contentious Divorce Battle Involves Prior Financial Disputes
The catalog payout order stems from a contentious divorce that began when Dreka filed court documents in July 2025 citing irreconcilable differences after 10 years of marriage. By October 2025, court filings showed she was seeking over $70,000 a month in child and spousal support.

In those filings, the 40-year-old entrepreneur alleged that Kevin stopped paying property taxes and private school tuition for their children, 13-year-old Islah and 12-year-old Khaza, starting in 2021. She further alleged that he began to dismantle the family’s financial foundation and requested primary physical custody of the children.
Kevin maintained in divorce documents that the couple was never legally married, although he appeared to confirm a separation on his 2022 track Bad for Me.
He later used social media to accuse Dreka of attacking his image and alleged she filed for divorce only after he stopped giving her money, while also accusing her and her family of taking money from him and claiming they had been separated since 2020.
Upcoming Financial Disbursals and Legal Proceedings
The newly established Morgan Stanley account will oversee the ongoing distribution of funds while the legal proceedings continue between the former couple.
