KIA Tigers’ Will Crowe Sidelined with Elbow Injury: Team Faces Challenges Without Key Players

Incheon = Correspondent Kim Min-gyu

Will Crowe, who leads KIA Tigers, leaves the line with an elbow injury.

KIA announced on the 10th that it would exclude Crow from the first team bid.

The reason is injury. As a result of a hospital examination, Crow was diagnosed with damage to the medial collateral ligament of his right elbow.

Crow felt elbow pain while pitching in the bullpen during an away game against the Samsung Lions in Daegu two days ago. The first examination was performed at a hospital in Daegu, and after double checks at two hospitals on the 9th, a partial damage to the collateral ligament on the inside of the elbow was diagnosed.

Crow is scheduled for a re-examination in two weeks.

This is a huge blow to the leader KIA.

Crow, who started the opener, has appeared in 8 games this season and has 5 wins, 1 loss, and a 3.57 ERA. The number of wins is tied for first in the league, and the average ERA is eighth.

KIA are leading this season, but the specter of injuries continues to haunt them.

Top gun Na Seong-beom, who suffered a microscopic injury to his right thigh muscle during an exhibition match, returned at the end of last month, but this time Crow’s departure left a big hole in the starting lineup.

Currently, the KIA starting lineup is also missing due to injury.

Lee Ui-ri, who posted a 3.96 ERA with 11 wins and 7 losses last year, voluntarily resigned from the game against the Gwangju LG Twins on the 10th of last month due to pain in his left elbow. As a result of the examination, he was diagnosed with a left elbow flexor sprain and was excluded from group 1. As the injury was not serious, he was expected to return to the team after rest and rehabilitation, but has not returned since over a month. Despite playing in the rehab team recently, he has not featured in the Futures League. KIA coach Lee Beom-ho is in no rush for Lee Ui-ri’s return.

I can immediately feel the void in Lee Ui-ri. KIA lost all four games in which starters played instead of Lee Ui-ri (Kim Geon-guk and Hwang Dong-ha). Crow also has elbow ligament damage, so it doesn’t look like it will be easy for him to come back right away.

In addition to Crow and Lee Ui-ri, KIA has had Na Seong-beom, Lim Ki-young, Hwang Dae-in, Yoon Do-hyun, and Park Min out of the team due to injuries this season.
