(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Jun-tae = Ko Byeong-seong, head of the acquisition business analysis team at the Korea Institute for Defense Analyzes (KIDA), who oversaw the feasibility study for the Korean supersonic fighter ‘KF-21 Boramae’ project, passed away on the 26th. Age 52.

On the 24th of last month, Director Ko left work early saying he was “not feeling well” and collapsed at home. He was taken to hospital but was told that he was brain dead.

The research team led by Director Ko concluded that it was desirable to reduce the initial production volume of the KF-21 Boramae to 20 units, half of the existing 40 units. Director Ko is said to have struggled due to constant criticism from political and military circles.

The funeral will be held at the Korea Institute for Defense Analysis, and the funeral will be held at the funeral hall of Anam Hospital of Korea University. The institute plans to hold a memorial ceremony at its headquarters on the 29th, anniversary of his death.
