[의정부=에너지경제신문 강근주 기자] On the 20th (Korea time), Kim Min-seon, a member of the Uijeongbu City Workplace Athletics Department ice team, won gold medals in the women’s 500m and medley relay following the 1000m gold medal at the 2023 Lake Placid Winter University, and played a role active in winning three gold medals in the tournament.
Kim Min-seon, who holds the world No. 1 in the women’s 500m, the main event, made a unique appearance by setting new records of 38 seconds and 53 seconds at the Lake Placid Winter University 2023.
Kim Min-seon won the 1st to 4th rounds of the ISU (International Skating Federation) Speed World Cup and the 500m event at the ISU Four Continents Speed Championships.
In the mixed relay that followed, he competed with Ahn Hyun-jun (Seongnam City Hall) and won the championship with a time of 3 minutes 10 seconds 84. The athletes Hyeon-jun Ahn and Min-seon Kim, who started from lane 1, overtook 2nd place Japan’s Kotaro Kasahara and Yuka Takahashi by more than one second, informing the world of the status of Korean ice skating.
Uijeongbu Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “I am very proud of the Uijeongbu City Hall national team player, Kim Min-seon, who consistently achieved the best results in all international ice skating competitions and made the status of Korea and the City of Uijeongbu shine .”
