Updated June 05, 2025
Kim Kardashian testified Tuesday in Paris at the trial of 10 individuals accused of orchestrating the 2016 robbery during Paris Fashion Week. Kardashian described how the Paris robbery “changed everything” for her.
During the Paris robbery, Kardashian “absolutely” believed she would be killed. She told the court that she feared sexual assault when her robe fell open. “I absolutely did think I was going to die,” she told Judge David De pas.
kardashian recounted being startled by strangers in her apartment after hearing footsteps and calling for her sister. When she tried to call her bodyguard, someone snatched her phone. Initially, she thought it was a terrorist attack, she said, before realizing the men were after her jewelry.
According to Kardashian, the robbers grabbed her, pointed a gun at her back, and forced her to search for more jewelry. She told the court she communicated to the suspects that she had ”babies” and needed to survive for them.
The robbers zip-tied her arms and legs, taped her mouth shut, and left her in a bathroom as they fled with millions in stolen goods.Kardashian, who finalized her divorce from Kanye “Ye” West in 2022, said the Paris robbery has fundamentally changed how she and her family approach travel. “We never thought we were never not safe before this,” she said.
Now, Kardashian removes her jewelry upon arriving home and stores it elsewhere for safekeeping. At the time of the incident, her family had only one bodyguard, who was out with her sister Kourtney Kardashian.
The trial for the 10 suspects, aged 35 to 78,is scheduled to last until May 23. Five are suspected of being in the apartment during the robbery, while others are accused of assisting in its planning. Eight defendants maintain their innocence, while two men whose DNA was found at the scene have confessed.
Yunice Abbas, 71, admitted to participating in the robbery. He told the court that robbing Kardashian was “too many” and that he “totally regrets” his involvement. Kardashian expressed shock upon learning about Abbas’s book detailing the events.
“Not only did he do this, but now [he’s] making money off that — my jewelry, my memories, the watch my dad who passed away gave me when I graduated high school. I can’t get that back,” Kardashian said.
She added, “It wasn’t just jewelry… someone took away my memories, and now he is capitalizing by writing a book? It didn’t seem fair to me.”
After the robbers left, Kardashian freed herself and went to her stylist, Simone Harouche. When the Paris police arrived, she was unsure if they were legitimate because the robbers had also been dressed as police officers. “I didn’t know who to trust,” she said.
The suspects face charges including armed robbery, kidnapping, and criminal gang membership, which could result in life imprisonment. Investigators believe the suspects used Kardashian’s social media posts to plan the crime.Since the Paris robbery, she has drastically altered her social media activity.
