[디지털데일리 채성오기자] Coupang Play announced on the 20th that it had selected the famous German Bundesliga team ‘Bayern München’ as the first invited team for the ‘2024 Coupang Play Series’.

The Coupang Play Series, which is directly hosted, organized, and broadcast by Coupang Play, is held in the form of inviting famous overseas clubs to Korea, and has become a big event for sports fans. In fact, starting with Tottenham Hotspur and Sevilla’s visit to Korea in 2022, the skills of Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) players were shown to Korean fans last year.

The invited team for this year’s Coupang Play Series was decided to be Bayern Munich. This is the first time Bayern Munich has visited Korea since its founding in 1900. As of the 26th round of the German Bundesliga, Bayern Munich has 19 wins, 3 draws, and 4 losses (60 points), ranking second in the league after TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen (22 wins, 4 draws, 70 points).

Although the point gap with the leader has widened this season, Bayern Munich is considered the most prestigious German club with the most Bundesliga wins. Bayern Munich had national team center back Kim Min-jae join last summer, but there have been recent changes in its starting line-up, with Eric Dier, who transferred this winter, being appointed as a center back. Key players include Kim Min-jae, Harry Kane, who transferred from Tottenham Hotspur, team legend Thomas Müller, and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Bayern Munich Executive Vice President Michael Diederich said, “We are very happy to visit Korea, a country full of passion for soccer. We are proud to have world-class player Kim Min-jae playing for Bayern Munich, and the Coupang Play Series will support Kim Min-jae and the team.” “I expect it will be a special journey for everyone,” he said.

Meanwhile, Coupang Play announced a strategic partnership with Bundesliga International, of which Bayern Munich belongs, in November last year.
