Kim Min-gi, CEO of small theater ‘Hakjeon’, shared his current status while fighting cancer.

Part 1 of the SBS documentary ‘Hakjeon and the Behind the Scenes Kim Min-ki’, which first aired on the 21st, depicted the story of Kim Min-ki, the composer of ‘Morning Dew’ and the founder of Hakjeon, a small theater that is symbolic of Daehakro, which is closing after 33 years.

At the end of the day’s broadcast, the site of the last performance held at the school, which is about to close, was revealed. Not only Kim Min-ki, but also the first ‘Hakjeon’ actor Sol Kyeong-gu attended and graced the event.

In particular, Sol Kyung-gu attracted attention by shedding tears after taking a group photo with the actors who finished their last performance. Seol Gyeong-gu said, “I joined a theater company created by a professor during the second semester of my senior year at university.” He continued, “After a few months, I realized that even though I was a senior, I would still be a fifth year even after I graduated. So I held on for a little while and came out,” he recalled of his college days.

He said, “It wasn’t like anyone recognized me, and when I came out, there was nothing to do. So, I visited a senior I knew at the planning office of the school’s general affairs department, and I got a part-time job as a poster. After about a month, the senior said, ‘The teacher said we should do Subway Line 1,'” he said. As a member of the first class of the school, he appeared in the musical ‘Subway Line 1’. He shared the reason he came up on stage.

He continued, “I can’t sing or dance, so I said, ‘What is that?’ When I asked why, they said I just seemed sincere. “That was our first relationship,” he said. “It felt like a lie. So ‘is this really one?’ “I had doubts, but the original members gathered together and it was a mixed bag,” he said with a laugh.

At the same time, he expressed his affection, saying, “I think it was the greatest luck of my life to meet teacher Kim Min-ki when I came out of society. It was a prosperous time. Thanks to the teacher.”

Kim Min-gi said to the actors who finished the performance, “It’s been a long time. We performed for the last time, and no one knows whether we will do it again or whether this will be the end,” leaving a touching impression.

Meanwhile, actors with academic backgrounds include Sol Kyeong-gu, Kim Yun-seok, Jang Hyun-seong, Hwang Jung-min, and Cho Seung-woo. Singers such as the late Kim Gwang-seok, Zoo, Park Hak-gi, Wild Chrysanthemum, and Kang San-e also performed here.

Hakjeon closed after 33 years due to ongoing management difficulties and Kim Min-gi’s deteriorating health. The ‘Hakjeon Again Concert’ held on the 14th of last month was a finale with the participation of Park Hak-gi, People Who Seek Songs, Kwon Jin-won, Hwang Jung-min, Ali, and Jeong Dong-ha.
