Kim Woo-bin Opens Up About His Cancer Battle and Shares His Positive Outlook
Actor Kim Woo-bin recently shared his thoughts on battling cancer, drawing sympathy from fans and fellow celebrities alike.
A video titled ‘Kim Woo-bin Kim Sung-kyun {Salty Brother} EP. 59 A small bladder man who looks for a bathroom as soon as he sits down’ was released on the YouTube channel ‘Salty Brother’, featuring Kim Woo-bin and Kim Sung-kyun, who star in the Netflix series ‘Infinite Challenge’, sharing stories from the filming and their recent activities.
MC Shin Dong-yup vividly described the time he heard the news of Kim Woo-bin’s cancer battle, saying, ”Woo-bin doesn’t really let on that he’s sick. That’s why he didn’t even do an interview, but when the news was revealed, I was so shocked.”
Shin Dong-yup said, “I know how difficult cancer treatment and radiation therapy are because I saw how hard it was for my mother, so I’m curious about how she endured it.”
Kim Woo-bin said, “I’m actually a bit of a positive person. So I’m the type of person who finds a positive side to any situation. Like in the drama, when the hospital suddenly tells me, ‘It’ll be six months at the shortest,’ I was so surprised and scared, and I wished it was a dream. But despite that, I never once thought, ‘What if I can’t overcome this? ‘” and talked about that time when he was brave even in difficult situations.
He continued, “Of course, I didn’t think that way right away, but I tried to change my mind while receiving treatment. Since I debuted and have been busy for over 10 years without resting, I tried to keep thinking that maybe heaven gave me this time to look back on myself and spend time with my family and such,” showing a positive side.
Kim Woo-bin then said, “What I’ve believed since then and even now is that simply because my face is known, so many people have supported and prayed for me, and I believe that’s the real power. That’s why my progress is so good, and the hospital said they were so surprised. They could see me getting better. I think I got healthy quickly thanks to that support and prayers, and so I always try to feel that feeling so that it doesn’t fly away from me, and I want to convey the prayers I received to more people,” showing his warm heart.
he conveyed his honest thoughts and touched the hearts of many by saying, “I always pray before I go to bed that this kind of miracle can happen to more families. I think it feels like a homework assignment in my heart.”
Kim Woo-bin halted activities in 2017 to receive treatment for nasopharyngeal cancer. He later announced his recovery in 2019 and resumed activities as a presenter at the Blue Dragon Film Awards that year, receiving support from many.
