Exclusive First Look: ‘Big House Paris’ Chef Drama Starring Takuya Kimura and Ok Taecyeon
Big House Paris, a standalone feature spin-off from the world of Japanese hit series Big House: Tokyo, is set to premiere at the San Sebastian Film Festival. The film stars Japanese star Takuya Kimura and popular Korean actor and rapper Ok Taecyeon.
Directed by Ayuko Tsukahara, the film follows the story of famous Japanese chef Obana, who opens a new restaurant in Paris in hopes of winning his third Michelin star. However, life as an outsider in the City of Light proves to be incredibly difficult, even when it comes to sourcing ingredients. Obana’s ego and ambition put him at odds with his team, including headstrong pastry chef Yuan and loyal sous chef Rinko.
The film features a talented cast, including Kyoka Suzuki, Yuta Tamamori, Kanichiro, Anne Nakamura, Ai Tominaga, Mitsuhiro Oikawa, and Itki Sawamura, all reprising their roles from the series. Michelin 3-star Japanese chef Kei Kobayashi created the food for the film, adding an extra layer of authenticity to the culinary world of Paris.
Toho and Sony Pictures Entertainment will release the film in Japan, while Sony Pictures Entertainment will release it in France. Film Constellation is responsible for international sales. With its unique blend of Japanese and French cuisine, Big House Paris is sure to delight audiences worldwide.
The film’s official plot synopsis reads: “Famous Japanese chef Obana opens a new restaurant in Paris in hopes of winning his third Michelin star. But Obana finds life as an outsider in the City of Light incredibly difficult, even when it comes to sourcing ingredients. His ego and ambition put him at odds with his team, including headstrong pastry chef Yuan and loyal sous chef Rinko. When the gala dinner menu proves a disaster, Obana promises his former mentor that if he doesn’t win three Michelin stars, he’ll quit the restaurant and leave Paris. Can he pull through?”
The film’s production team includes Jeremy Thomas of the Recorded Picture Company, Hidenori Iyoda of TBS TV, Masanobu Yamada, and Keiko Matsumoto. With its talented cast and crew, Big House Paris is sure to be a hit with audiences and critics alike.
