King Charles III (75) of England was said to have been diagnosed with cancer and started treatment.

The British royal family announced on the 5th (local time) that King Charles III was recently diagnosed with cancer during treatment for an enlarged prostate and began treatment on this day.

The royal family said separate concerns were raised while the king was undergoing surgery for an enlarged prostate in hospital, and later diagnostic tests revealed a type of cancer.

Although specific details about the type or stage of cancer have not been revealed, the royal family’s message is that it is not prostate cancer.

The BBC explained that the King moved from the Sandringham Estate to London on this day to begin outpatient treatment, and will remain in London that day.

The royal family said the king remains positive about his treatment and is looking forward to returning to his public schedule as soon as possible.

The King will temporarily suspend his public activities, but will continue to fulfill his constitutional role as head of state, including working on documents and holding private meetings, the BBC added.

The king decided to make his cancer diagnosis public to prevent speculation and hopes it will help increase public understanding of those affected by cancer, the royal family said.

The King informed his eldest son, Prince William, and his second son, Prince Harry, of the diagnosis, and Prince Harry is said to be planning to come to the UK to meet his father.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunnack and opposition Labor leader Keir Starmer wished the king a speedy recovery.

The King waved hello to royal fans on his way to Sandringham church the day before. This was his first public act since he was released from hospital after undergoing surgery for an enlarged prostate on the 29th of last month.

The royal family said in a statement at the time of release that they would adjust their official schedule to accommodate the king’s recovery.
