King Charles III and Queen Camilla are in New York City on Wednesday as part of a four-day trip to the United States commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence. The royal couple began their visit in Washington, D.C. and will continue to Virginia following their engagements in New York.
The King and Queen laid flowers at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, accompanied by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. This visit marks King Charles’ first state visit to the U.S. As king, following a state visit to the U.K. By President Donald Trump in September.
During their time in New York City, King Charles visited Harlem Grown’s farm on 134th Street, one of 14 farms operated by the non-profit organization. Queen Camilla met with actress Sarah Jessica Parker and Anna Wintour at the New York Public Library.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani indicated he might urge the King to return the Koh-i-Noor diamond if given the opportunity to speak with the royal couple privately.
The royal visit is taking place amidst heightened security measures, with law enforcement officials anticipating heavy security and intermittent road closures throughout the day.
The King and Queen concluded their New York City visit with an appearance at The King’s Trust Global Gala at Christie’s. The gala celebrated the 50th anniversary of The King’s Trust, a non-profit organization that provides work and educational opportunities to young people in over a dozen countries. Celebrities in attendance included Iman, Lionel Richie, and Anna Wintour.
The king and queen are most grateful to all those who have worked at pace to ensure this remains the case and are looking forward to the visit getting underway tomorrow.

The trip to the U.S. Follows a shooting at the White House Correspondents’ dinner, prompting discussions between British and U.S. Authorities regarding the visit’s security. Despite the incident, Buckingham Palace confirmed the trip would proceed as planned.
