King Charles III is joining forces with actor‌ Idris Elba for a new Netflix documentary highlighting the work of ‌The King’s Trust. The film,‍ which celebrates‌ the charity’s 50th anniversary, will offer viewers a rare glimpse into the‍ organization’s mission to support⁢ young people.

According to the‌ Telegraph, filming is scheduled ⁤to begin next ‍week, ‌with the documentary expected to‌ air next year. This announcement coincides with Meghan Markle’s expansion of ⁣her as ⁢Ever brand, ⁣introducing a rosé wine.

The documentary, a collaboration with ⁤The King’s Foundation, will be filmed at Dumfries House in Scotland.‌ Elba’s production company, 22 Summers, is producing the film, marking King Charles’ ​first venture with Netflix. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have previously created documentaries for the platform.

This isn’t King Charles’ first foray into documentary ‍filmmaking. He is also set to appear in an ⁣Amazon ⁣Prime feature-length film​ about his “philosophy of harmony,” which was revealed in​ January.

The Netflix‌ documentary will also provide opportunities for ⁤young people supported by The King’s Trust to⁣ gain ⁢experience in film ⁤and television production.

The King’s Trust,⁤ originally The Prince’s Trust, was founded in⁢ 1976 with King Charles’ £7,400 severance pay from the Royal Navy. The organization ‌aims to help disadvantaged young people access education and employment.

Elba has ​credited The King’s‌ Trust with significantly impacting his life. At 16, he received a £1,500 grant that enabled him to train at the national Youth Music ‌Theater.

Elba stated that The ​King’s Trust provided him with a life-changing possibility. He emphasized⁢ the importance ​of providing practical support and financial assistance to young people lacking resources to pursue their ambitions. He also noted his own efforts through the Elba⁢ Hope Foundation to create similar opportunities.

Earlier this month, King Charles​ attended London’s first SXSW festival in Shoreditch, where The Kingdom Choir, who performed⁤ at ‌the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding, serenaded him.

The SXSW ‌festival also featured talks from various actors, musicians,⁣ and entrepreneurs, including Elba, ‍Katherine⁣ Ryan, Erykah Badu, Alice Glass, and ​Sophie Turner.
