The Wall Street Journal’s Moscow correspondent, who was detained on espionage charges, made his first appearance since his arrest.

He appeared in a Russian court where an appeal was held against the detention decision.

He was also caught smiling while waiting inside the glass cage.

However, a Russian court denied his release.

Previously, the day before yesterday, UN member states urged 40 countries, including Korea, to release them immediately, but to no avail.

After the dismissal was decided, the defense attorney told the press that Reporter Gersikowicz was grateful to everyone who supported him and that he was full of fighting spirit.

The US ambassador to Russia has repeatedly called for an end to unjust detention.
