Kovovax in October; Adar Poonawala meets Amit Shah

Adar Poonawala, CEO, Serum Institute of India, New Delhi, said: He said Kovovax would be a two-dose vaccine and the price would be decided at the time of release.

During his 30-minute meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he thanked the Union Government for all its support to the Serum Institute. He added that the company is trying to increase the production capacity of the Covshield vaccine. ‘The government is helping us. The company is not facing a financial crisis. I am indebted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for all the cooperation and support, ”Poonawala told reporters after the meeting.

Adar Poonawala had met Health Minister Mansukh Mandav yesterday. The minister tweeted that Covshield had discussed the distribution of the vaccine with Adar Poonawala.

Serum Institute Kovovax is produced in association with the US company Novavax. Last month, an expert panel of the Central Drug Authority of India recommended that the Serum Institute of India be allowed to conduct two- or three-phase trials of Kovovax in children aged 2 to 17 years. The experiments were performed on 460 people aged 12 to 17 and 460 people aged 2 to 11 at 10 locations. Currently, only people 18 years of age or older are eligible for the Kovid vaccine.
