Kozhikode: Nipah virus confirmed again A 12-year-old boy has been diagnosed with NIPA while a 12-year-old boy is being treated at a private hospital in Kozhikode.

The boy, who was suffering from vomiting and meningitis, was admitted to the hospital yesterday. A sample of the child’s semen was sent to the Alappuzha Virology Lab following the recommendation that the NIPA test should be performed in case of any such cases of vomiting and meningitis at the same time as the NIPA virus was last confirmed.

The child is currently on a ventilator. The health department has not released any information on whether the child has any significant health problems. The health minister has directly directed the health department to be vigilant in the incident. Health Minister Veena George will arrive in Kozhikode tomorrow.
