[한국NGO신문=김보람 기자] Krafton Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Chang-han) announced on the 14th that it had carried out an update to commemorate the 7th anniversary of the release of PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS.

Battlegrounds is a representative game of the battle royale genre that was released as Steam Early Access in 2017 and recorded the largest number of simultaneous users in Steam history, 3.25 million. This game, which has been selected as Platinum level in the best-selling and most-played game category on Steam for 7 consecutive years and is loved by users around the world, celebrates its 7th anniversary on the 23rd.

To commemorate the 7th anniversary of its release, a colorful festival was held in Battleground. First, the schools and restaurants on the Erangel map are decorated with a 7th anniversary theme, so you can feel the party atmosphere in the game. When using the vending machine located inside the restaurant, you can see energy drinks with a new look, and there is a 7% chance of obtaining 7 energy drinks at once. Throwable cupcakes and gift boxes were placed on the starting island of every map. In addition, the map’s electronic display, decorations, supply ships, and airplane banners were decorated with the 7th anniversary theme.

To celebrate the 7th anniversary, various events and rewards were prepared. You can obtain the 7th anniversary pack by accessing the event page by April 8th and clicking the participate button. There are also various events that you can participate in within the game. 7th Anniversary clothing items, G-coins, and contraband coupons when completing missions for special supply events such as ‘7th Anniversary Party Gift’, ‘7th Anniversary Booster’, ‘Party Time’, and ‘7th Anniversary for Everyone’ etc. are paid as compensation.

The ‘7th Anniversary Screenshot Event’ will also be held until the 27th. This is an event in which screenshots are taken with Erangel’s 7th anniversary decorations in the background and posted to the community. Through the 28.2 update, the ‘Gun Play Laboratory’ mentioned in the Battlegrounds 2024 development roadmap announcement was added to the arcade. Users can experience in advance the balance adjustment of the submachine gun (SMG), which is scheduled to be introduced mid-year in arcade and custom matches, and provide opinions through surveys. The development team plans to update Gun Play based on user feedback.

Meanwhile, Battlegrounds is hosting ‘Who Made PUBG? (hereinafter referred to as Banuman)’ with game influencers. Banuman is an event-style competition held by game influencers such as Oa, Zucchini, and Yunroot, as well as the Battleground development team.

The competition will be held from 6 p.m. on the 17th, and will be broadcast live online on Battleground’s official Afreeca TV channel with commentary by Esports commentator Jisooboy, partner influencer Kim Blue, and Battleground developer.
