Barbora Krejcikova, the reigning Wimbledon champion, faced a tough challenge at the Eastbourne Open, saving two match points against Britain’s Harriet Dart before securing a victory Tuesday. The second-seeded Krejcikova won 6-3, 6-7 (4), 7-5 in the rain-affected round-of-32 match.

This marks only the second victory of the year for Krejcikova, ranked No. 17, who returned to competition in May after recovering from a back injury. The 29-year-old Czech player is using the Eastbourne event as her final readiness before defending her Wimbledon title next week. She previously suffered a first-round loss at queen’s Club in London.
