Kusum’s Curious Conundrum: What’s Behind the Big Screen Blackout

However, Kusum Sikder’s ‘Sharater Jaba’ will release in theaters on October 11 as the first landmark film from new Bangladesh. Not only the acting, but the story, script, production and production of this film have been done by this National Film Award winning actress only. Basically, there was a lively conversation about these issues during the Bangla Tribune celebrity show ‘Mamanama-Out of the Box’. Produced by Johnny Haque and directed by Mahmood Manzoor, Kusum Sikder narrated various stories about her film journey while sitting in the guest seat.

It must be said that Kusum Sikdar has returned to the cinema after 8 consecutive years. His last film was released in 2016. The latest release was the blockbuster ‘Sankhchil’ directed by Gautam Ghosh starring Kusum. He said that many film offers were not worked after this for various reasons. In his words, ‘I couldn’t really adapt. Note, I have been working less since my batch (2002). Those who used to shoot for 28 days a month, I used to shoot for 12 days. I always want to learn. If I can’t learn anything by working in a unit, I’m not interested in doing the work. Another thing is, I can’t adjust with everyone. Maybe it’s my failure. All in all, I have very little work.’

In response, Kusum said, ‘I have written the first story. The script is also written by me. As a result, I have confidence in this story. I could see every scene. However, I didn’t want to do the hard work of managing in the beginning. I sat down with two makers about the story. But as I talked to them, I could feel that they couldn’t understand my story. It could be. As a result, I didn’t want to compromise the story with another producer. I decided to make the film myself. There will be a rich team. That’s how I worked. It was team work. Nothing is mine alone.’
