GCC States Address Global Water Challenges at UN Council

Geneva – Ambassador Nasser Al-Hain,Kuwait’s permanent representative to the U.N. in Geneva, addressed the 59th session of the united Nations Human Rights Council, highlighting the Gulf Cooperation Council’s commitment to solving global water challenges. Al-Hain, speaking as chairman of the GCC ambassadors, stressed the importance of regional and international cooperation to support innovative solutions for water resources.
Al-Hain referenced initiatives by GCC countries, including Saudi Arabia’s plan to establish the World Water Organization in Riyadh. He also noted that the United Arab Emirates and Senegal will host the United Nations Water Conference in 2026, the first such conference following the adoption of the UN’s unified strategy on safe drinking water and sanitation for 2024.
