Kuwaiti art critic Mufreh Al-Shammari, as well as critic Lafi Al-Shammari, launched an attack on one of the scenes of the artist Ayten Amer, in the series “One Wife is Not Enough,” which sparked widespread controversy, and the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information demanded that it be stopped.

Kuwaiti critic Mufreh, during his appearance on the “Saray” program shown on the Kuwaiti channel ATV, commented on a scene in which the artist Ayten Amer appears, in which she says: “Today, he will not be able to fully perform his marital duties?” And in his comment on the dialogue, he said, “The dialogue is obscene. And what is said, the language is ridiculous.”

Critic Lafi Al-Shammari said that the series is considered to be Kuwaiti. “Note that the series is considered to be Kuwaiti according to the author. If this scene was in an Egyptian series, nothing would happen to it.”

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Information had issued a statement on its page on the “X” website, which stated: “Stop anyone who participates in any artistic work that offends Kuwaiti society from participating in any artistic or theatrical works that are filmed or shown inside Kuwait.”

The series “One Wife Is Not Enough,” which was announced to be stopped, sparked widespread controversy in Kuwait, because it dealt with sensitive issues, including polygamy and common-law marriage.

The series, which is shown on MBC, stars Hoda Hussein, Majed Al-Masry, Nour Al-Ghandour, Ayten Amer, Fatima Al-Safi, written by Heba Mishari Hamada and directed by Ali Al-Ali.
