Kwankwaso Urges Atiku to Step Down from 2027 Presidential Race

National Democratic Coalition vice-presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso has publicly urged opposing politician Atiku Abubakar to step down from the 2027 presidential race, citing concerns over his age and health. Atiku, who is the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress, will turn 80 years old by the 2027 general election. During the meeting with agricultural association members in Abuja, Kwankwaso pledged that his political camp would look after Atiku if the National Democratic Coalition secures victory in 2027.

Kwankwaso also referenced Atiku’s traditional political title, Wazirin Adamawa, suggesting that the veteran politician should shift his focus entirely toward fulfilling those traditional responsibilities instead of pursuing another presidential campaign.
