The Lagos State Government has stepped up safety, health, and security measures across public schools as pupils and students prepare to resume classes for the 2026/2027 academic session on Monday, according to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria. State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education Jamiu Alli-Balogun urged school communities to remain alert and take active steps to protect learners and staff.
Hygiene and Infrastructure Standards for Resumption
To maintain secure learning spaces, the commissioner directed schools to sustain clean environments featuring functional water supply systems, proper sanitation, and adequate hygiene facilities. According to the ministry statements provided by the News Agency of Nigeria, schools must ensure classrooms have proper ventilation while frequently touched surfaces undergo regular cleaning. Alli-Balogun called on learners to maintain personal hygiene by washing hands regularly, avoiding littering, practicing proper respiratory hygiene, and disposing of waste responsibly. Students have also been advised to avoid sharing personal items, while teachers, administrators, and non-teaching staff are expected to lead by example regarding environmental cleanliness and safety standards.
Reporting Security Threats and Model College Schedules
