President Prabowo arrives in New Delhi to attend the 18th BRICS Summit, joining more than 20 national leaders, observers, and heads of international institutions at Bharat Mandapam for the 2026 gathering hosted by India, according to ANTARA News.
Official Arrival at Palam Air Force Station
The presidential aircraft landed at Palam Air Force Station for an official welcoming ceremony featuring a red carpet and an honor guard, as reported by ANTARA News. Indian Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey received Prabowo at the airbase alongside other host officials. Foreign Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya accompanied the Indonesian president as part of the summit delegation.
Amplifying the Voice of the Global South
As ANTARA News notes, Minister Dubey greeted the visiting Indonesian officials by remarking that close ties between India and Indonesia under the BRICS umbrella will serve to strengthen the perspective of the Global South. India and Indonesia share a vision of cooperation, inclusive growth, and mutual prosperity as key partners among developing countries in the Indo-Pacific region. India holds the BRICS Chairship for 2026.
Global Leaders Gather in New Delhi
The 18th BRICS Summit brings together a wide roster of international figures. ANTARA News specifies that the leaders present at the summit comprise Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. ANI News reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on the sidelines of the summit, stating that Moscow takes Egypt’s stance into account.
Heads of international institutions are also present in New Delhi. Attendees include World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, World Trade Organization Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, New Development Bank President Dilma Rousseff, and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank President Zou Jiayi, according to ANTARA News and News On AIR.
