Lambrecht confidants should continue to collect money without giving up

Christine Lambrecht only held the position of Defense Minister for a short time. Two of her employees continue to receive a salary after their resignation – probably without working for it.

The Social Democrat Christine Lambrecht only worked as Federal Minister of Defense for a little longer than 13 months. Then her party colleague Boris Pistorius took over the helm – and replaced some employees in the Berlin Bendlerblock.

Pistorius could not or did not want to offer all Lambrecht’s employees new positions. Lambrecht had promoted the ministry spokesman and the head of management staff. Pistorius is said to have relieved the two men of their duties, but did not find any new employment for them afterwards. This emerges from a report in the “Bild” newspaper. They belong to salary level B6 – and are therefore entitled to a salary until retirement.

No position for B6 employees

As “Bild” reports, the Ministry of Defense is said to have confirmed the information to CDU defense expert Ingo Gädechens: “There are currently two civil servants in salary group B6 who have not been assigned a corresponding post, working in the BMVg.”

This overstaffing must be borne by taxpayers. Including the ministry allowance, the civil servants’ salary is 11,070 euros per month – per person. This means that the costs for the two ministry employees, for whom a new position has not yet been found, amount to 265,680 euros per year.
