Paramount+ drama Landman is on track for a November 2026 release window for season 3, with creator Taylor Sheridan actively writing scripts and returning director Stephen Kay confirming that editing is happening simultaneously with production, according to interviews with network executives and production team members.
Landman Season 3 Production Timeline and Filming Updates
Production on season 3 of the Taylor Sheridan series has experienced multiple adjustments. While filming was initially scheduled to begin in May 2026, the start date was first pushed back by three months, before actor James Jordan confirmed exclusively to Us Weekly in July 2025 that cameras would instead start rolling in September.
“We start that sometime in September, and we’ll shoot that through the first quarter of next year,” Jordan told Us Weekly, adding that the upcoming run will consist of 10 episodes. “Then we should have it out … I don’t know when. It’s up to the powers that be, but we’re very excited to get started on that.”
Alongside the scheduling shifts, the core cast of the show secured pay increases in June, with the exception of lead star Billy Bob Thornton. According to Deadline, Thornton operates under a separate three-year contract featuring standard year-to-year raises, putting him in position to negotiate a new deal should Paramount+ greenlight a fourth season.
How Simultaneous Editing Speeds Up the Taylor Sheridan Release Schedule
Despite the production changes, the show’s creative team is utilizing a fast-paced workflow to maintain an annual release cadence for the streaming platform. During The Hollywood Reporter’s Directors in Focus event, returning director Stephen Kay offered a reassuring progress report on the series.

This concurrent editing strategy explains the rapid deployment of original series helmed by Sheridan, who maintains a massive content pipeline for Paramount+. Following the premiere of season 1 in November 2024 and the second season’s wrap in August 2025 ahead of its November 2025 debut, this overlapping post-production approach positions season 3 to capture the same November release window on Paramount+.
Where Landman Fits Into Taylor Sheridan’s Expanding Television Empire
Paramount+ head of originals Jane Wiseman outlined the broader strategy for the platform’s prolific creator during an interview with Deadline on August 17, 2025. Wiseman emphasized that the network is exercising deliberate pacing despite overseeing a massive volume of active projects.

Wiseman noted that the platform has announced seven scripted drama greenlights over a 10-month window, pointing to a deep runway of unannounced projects designed to sustain the dedicated audience base following Sheridan’s work. This sprawling television output continues alongside Sheridan’s five-year overall film, television, and streaming deal with NBCUniversal, which is set to begin on January 1, 2029, following the conclusion of his current Paramount contract in 2028. Paramount retains the rights to Yellowstone and existing franchises established during his tenure, ensuring that Landman and its companion series remain securely anchored at Paramount+.
