Lawyer Jang is also on trial on charges of violating the Official Public Elections Law after putting forward the theory that CEO Lee Jae-myung was involved in gangsterism based on claims by Park Cheol-min, a member of the international mafia, during the last presidential elections.
At the first trial last month, lawyer Jang argued that “there was no awareness that the report was false” and that “we received photos of cash and a letter confirming the facts from the informant, so it was sufficiently reliable given the circumstances.”
Lawyer Jang ran as a member of the People Power Party’s National Assembly in Sujeong-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do in the April 10 general election, but was defeated.
