Lazio Region Outlines Healthcare Strategy Focused on Digitalization, Proximity, and Patient care

Rome, Italy – The Lazio Region has unveiled a new strategic document designed to overhaul its healthcare system, emphasizing closer ties to patients, increased digitalization, and improved quality of care. The plan, developed through extensive consultations with healthcare professionals, patient organizations, and local authorities, aims to address current challenges and prepare the region for future needs.
Key Pillars of the Lazio Healthcare Strategy
The strategy rests on several core principles, including the integration of advanced technologies like prosthetic assistance, fostering strong public-private partnerships, prioritizing the humanization of care, and encouraging volunteer contributions. A central goal is to strengthen the accessibility of healthcare services for all residents of the Lazio region.
The plan specifically targets consolidating the digitalization of healthcare processes, aiming for greater efficiency and improved data management. This includes streamlining administrative tasks,enhancing communication between healthcare providers,and expanding telehealth options. The region also intends to improve patient care through a commitment to continuous quality enhancement.
according to data released alongside the strategy, the occupation rate of acute care beds increased from 71.4% in 2022 to 79.9% in 2025. Furthermore, home care services have expanded to reach 10.32% of the population aged 65 and over.
Collaborative Approach and Future Outlook
The growth of this strategy was a highly collaborative process.”Many proposals have arrived in all sectors,” stated the director of the Health and Social and Health Integration directorate of the Lazio Region, highlighting the broad engagement in shaping the plan.
Regional President francesco Rocca emphasized the importance of listening to those on the front lines of healthcare. “These concrete proposals will be the guide for the health service of this Region to implement programs and actions in the coming months and years,” he said.Rocca added that the healthcare system in Lazio has been strengthened by the open dialog and willingness to consider diverse perspectives.
To ensure accountability and continuous improvement, Rocca announced plans to reconvene the thematic tables in one year to assess progress against the established objectives. “We will find these thematic tables and this capacity for comparison in a year because I will ask that in a year we meet here to measure how much we have advanced compared to the objectives we have set ourselves,” he concluded.
